The Haunted Unicycle

Earlier this summer, back when I was living in Vancouver, I saw a unicycle. At the time I thought it was interesting; it’s the kind of thing you don’t see often. In a move I thought was unspeakably bizarre it was left alone, latched to a pole with a bicycle lock. Did you know unicycles could be locked up with a bicycle lock?

At the time, it was just one of those mildly interesting things that slips your mind instantly. I forgot about the unicycle almost as soon as I left. Then I started seeing it everywhere.

The same unicycle (it could only be the same one) appeared at the bus stop, at the library, at the bookstore and by the dorms. All over campus this rogue machine stalked me, like the angry Polyphemus hunting Odysseus’ men. No rider was ever seen; like the haunted automobile Christine, this beast appeared to possess a mind of it’s own.

That’s…. that’s basically it. I spent a month and a half seeing this random unicycle everywhere on campus. It was weird.

This is what we call an anti-climax.
